Stakeholder Collaboration

This initiative brings experts to Canada for discussions and project work with municipalities and others to address sustainable solutions for resilient communities through design, technology and collaboration. Solutions are focused on flood protection, brownfields, water and wastewater innovation as well as large scale revitalization and urban design for healthy cities.

Working through the Dutch Consulate in Toronto, PRIME Strategy & Planning supports initiatives and collaborations between professional firms and university experts from the Netherlands for projects in Ontario, Canada.

In October 2017, PRIME supported preparation of the second Dutch – Canadian Resilient Cities Summit as part of a Trade Mission from the Netherlands, led by Henk Ovink, International Special Envoy for Water from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This important event was held at Evergreen Brickworks and included leading speakers on building resilient cities from Canada and the Netherlands.

Panel discussions and project workshops are frequent and have included the City of Toronto Don River and Toronto Islands, City of Brampton Riverwalk and City of Markham North Markham.  Workshops engaged expertise from the Netherlands and locally in collaborative discussions to drive solutions for building resilient neighbourhoods by design and to address flood risk and revitalization.

In addition, Prime supports the Netherlands Partners in Business Resilient Cities initiative, which includes professional firms from the Netherlands in partnerships and opportunities in Ontario, Canada.
